    Winter Tire and Wheel Recommendations

Why are you guys with AWD vehicles replacing your stock tires? I have a 2013 sport and hope the all season 20s are fine with awd in snow and ice.

    ETAs are bunk

I know its estimated, but I can give you an ETA of next week that the earth will be enveloped by the sun in a giant burst as it dies. Is it realistic? No, but its just estimated so its ok, right? No, not alright again. These estimates we get from ford are worthless because they aren't...

    ETAs are bunk

You'd think that if you are spending $40k on a new vehicle, that the company making it could at least narrow it down to the day when it would be at your dealership. Even Walmart can tell me when they will have an item back on the shelf to the day, but no, not Ford. It baffles me how they can...

Not that it should affect anything, but is there any difference whether your RAZR is bluetooth connected or not?

    Average build time?

Wish I had the order number. Its a company vehicle and the company uses a 3rd party (Fleet Solutions)to go through to order the vehicle. It was ordered early February and when we asked on the a couple days ago for any information on it, they said to check back in a month because it was just...

91 Exlporer High Idle And Tranny Issue

after checking your vacuum modulator, take the tps off and test it. I bet your TPS is going bad. It affects your torque conver lockup, tranny shifting, and idle rpm

DTC 21 and 14, hard start, dies when given gas

problem is fixed. I dont know exactly HOW it fixed the problem, but the problem is fixed. The main coolant temp sensor switch was faulty. Readings deviated way off the chart in relation to normal ohm readings. Put a spare sensor on and the vehicle runs like a top with no error codes...

    idler bearings going bad?

here's how i have always troubleshooted pulley bearings. Take the belt off and spin the pulleys by hand.. if both are not smooth and quiet, replace both of them. They are cheap enough. Put the belt back on and see if the noise is gone.. This is on a 4.0 ohv with only 2 pulleys, so if...

    idler bearings going bad?

Why would you want to replace the whole tensioner assembly if just the pulley is bad? That makes no sense. I've owned 5 explorers and not a single one has had a bad tensioner and all have had between 92k and 210k on them.

DTC 21 and 14, hard start, dies when given gas

update, finally got to look at the explorer last night and it baffles me as to what the problem is. He's still getting codes 14, 21, and 51, even when the explorer is warm, but no CEL. code 14 is the first code, then there is a space with a single beep, then the other 2 codes. Because I...

DTC 21 and 14, hard start, dies when given gas

PROBLEM FIXED!!! DTC 21 and 14, hard start, dies when given gas My father called me saying he had explorer problems. He is getting codes 14 and 21, both related to the ignition. The explorer is hard to start, and once it starts, runs rough for a while. Then it will smooth out. If you give...

How strong is OD in the 4R70W

No one is saying its a real work horse. The F150 is only a 1/2 ton truck, not a heavy duty truck by any means. I also have the 4r100 in my F150 with the 5.4 liter, but the 4r70w is very very common in the F150 with towing capability into the 7-8k pound range.

How strong is OD in the 4R70W

its a pretty tough tranny. Its stock in many 97+ F150 trucks and can take a fair amount of abuse. That being said, if you are climbing hills, turn od off. If its relatively flat (i.e, Kansas), i think towing in OD would be fine as long as your engine isn't downshifting a lot.

    engine swap ?'s

If by front clip you mean the bumper and grill, then leave all that there. The only parts of the body you will want to remove are the hood and front tires

    engine swap ?'s

Feel free to ask me any questions you have. I did this swap a month ago and its fairly straightforward. If you can tie your shoes, you can swap an engine. Disconnect everything, pull engine, put new engine in engine bay, reconnect everything. But seriously, email me if you have any...

    Floor Jack Advice

I'm on my 2nd craftsman 3 1/2 ton "professional" jack, the yellow and black ones, and its starting to crap out on me. They last about 8-10 months and then fail it seems.

    hmmm...will it start?

I believe the voltage regulators are internal to our alternators. Take your alternator off and go get it bench tested. My odds are on the fact your alternator went south.

Why the disparity between KBB and Edmunds

I'm more inclined to think EDMUNDS is priced much lower than actual value. KBB seems pretty spot on with NADAGUIDES.com and black book values are even closer to kbb than they are edmunds.

Need help with coil retainer nut

Here's how I remove my front coils.. Remove front sway bar bolt, stand on hub assy till the coil spring pops free. Then, take an impact wrench with 2 extensions with a wobbly in the middle and it spins the nut right off. Takes approx 15 mins to get to that stage.

    99 OHV into a 91 X

you shouldnt have had to do anything with the exhaust sensors if you used the 91 wiring harness. I just did a similar swap--but it was from a 94 X that had EGR crap and had to swap upper intake and driver's exhaust manifold (could have just plugged the EGR hole on the exhaust manifold, but I...

    Tie Rod Installation HELP!!!

Haynes manuals absolutely rock for imports--I own several haynes manuals-- but for the ford explorer, the chiltons has TONS more info, better detailed, and much much better electrical diagrams as opposed to the haynes manual. I own both and am giving the haynes to my dad (he bought a 91 X...
