    Engine Swap or Rebuild?

Ok, so the title says it all. I have a 1993 Sport 4x4 with about 320k on the motor. Smokes like a freight train and is burning coolant just as fast. Looks like I can probably find a decent running engine out of a wreck for around $500. I'm sure it would be at least 2-3 times that for a shop...

    Front axle swap

Oh, good point on the GM axle. For some reason I thought the diff was driver-side. My dad has a wrecked Chevy 4x4 and I have access to those parts. The SOA in the rear is just preferential only. I don't like the look of springs under the axle. Plus I wouldn't really have to buy anything...

    2-4 inch body lift anyone?

"Just as effective with the exact same results," means there is no difference in regards to safety when comparing it to the manufactured blocks. I'm curious to know your rationale backed with evidence (i.e. professional literature) why you think it is unsafe.

    2-4 inch body lift anyone?

I did the boat roller body lift on a Mazda pickup I once had. They are good and stiff and the tapered shape looks pretty cool. For rollers and bolts I had about $40 in it. It's just as good as a manufactured BL but I think it shows creativity; that is to do something that everyone else does...

    Front axle swap

Anyone- How much hassle would it be to rip out my stock front axle and replace with a straight axle off mid-80s Chevy fullsize. I've worked for three years in a machine shop with quite bit of fabrication experience but nothing automotive. Is there any special filler I would need to weld with...

    1994 Explorer Engine Swap

Mr. Shorty- I have a '93 Sport that goes through quite a bit of oil and coolant. I have a new radiator and lower radiator hose and there are positively no leaks anywhere. Your comment about the intake manifold gasket caught my attention because, as of late, I have been thinking about swapping...

    4x4 help

Whoever told you that you had to go in reverse in order to lock your hubs may want to rethink what they think they know. I agree with Fixxxer.

    4x4 help

My Explorer has a manual transmission so I don't know about having to have it in "N" then go to "R." However, I do know you have to be in 4X4 before going into 4X4 low.

    4.0 Woes

Ok, woops... it's a '93 sport. Well I really would like V8 power and was assuming I drop a carbureted engine so as to bypass all that electrical trouble. You know, just plain and simple, the way they used to do it. I suppose if I stayed with the 4.0 I could swap out the factory gears, I think...

    4.0 Woes

Hello friends, I own a 1993 sport trac with somewhere in 300k+ mileage range. It has had new heads put on at about 100k. She has served me quite well but as of late I am noticing the engine is getting awfully tired and runs rough and smokes like a freight train. I have one more year of...

    Tire size OPTIONS help!

Maybe this will help. This is my '93 with 31's.

    Tire size OPTIONS help!

I have a 93 sport trac (no lift what so ever) and have 31's on. This size looks pretty darn good on there. Speedo is off a bit but I've since unhooked the cable from the T-case so I hardly even notice it.

How to: Rebuild 4X4 Shift Motor

And to think I almost went out and bought another shift motor. No money spent, just a few hours of my time. Very accurate instructions and oh so helpful. Thanks!
