Tire size OPTIONS help!

i have the same console.. mine is not black.. mine is the exact same color as yours.. although i need it in my truck!!! here is a pic of 235/75/15....

and 225/70s are stock on 2 and 4 wheels drives.. it is a manufacturer upgrade to have the 235/75.. which i have on mine.. although next time i buy tires i as well am going with 31s.....

Cut the fenders and go with 33's :D

i dont think i wanna run 33s unless i do a SAS i dont so much trust IFS, and i would never run that big of a tire w/o the appropriate lift.. otherwise you have no flex room!!! plus 31s are cheaper...and im etremely broke rite now

you said that the 235/75 are a manufacturer upgrade and that they came stock with 225/70's ...then why does my sticker on the inside of my door of my 94 2wd say p235/75/15 ? was mine upgraded? ...little confused here.

yes it does.. mine does as well.. that mean .... well lets start here.. a dealership picks out what cars it wants to sell.. it call the corp and orders the cars.. they then get delivered to the dealer, and get sold from there... so what ever dealer ur truck was sold from... or who ever ordered it ordered the manufacturer upgrade to beigger tires.... then when the truck was sold... it was sold as is "stock" with the bigger tires.. but in actuality it is a manufacturer upgrade... confused still?

no.... i think that about does it .thank you .

Maybe this will help. This is my '93 with 31's.

Hope I'm not too late

You may have already gotten your new tires, but I thought I'd add my two cents worth. I have a 93 Sport 4WD, and I have 265/70/15s on it. This roughly equals a 29.5 inch tall by 10.5 inch wide tire. It keeps the ride height about the same, maybe a tad taller, and the extra width really looks good on the factory rim ( my rims are the same rims you have in the picture). I have also had the 10.50x15s off of my BII on the Explorer, but with no lift at all, they scrub a little. My advice for a good look and a good ride, look into the 265/70/15s.

I went with 30s. Didn't want the width of the 31s in front.
General Grabber AT2s get a thumbs up from me- great in snow, quiet on street. Not mudders, but good crossover tires.

or does anyone have a console like the one i circled in the picture above?

thanks....

I had the same console in my Navi, but it was broken. I got a black one from the junkyard and it looks just fine. The black and grey blends with the rest of the interior.

Try this site: http://www.car-part.com/index.htm but shop the prices, I was looking for the alloy rim for my Navajo and one place asked 120.00 plus shipping for it. I ended up getting the rim, plus the console, a dome light, speaker grill cover, and assorted misc parts for 40.00 from another junk yard on the site. ;)

Back Again

carolina explorer,... nope! not to late.... i was just about to go and get new tires today (monday 3/24) but thought i would jump on to see what has been said....

i like the idea of a wider tire like you mentioned keeping the same height.....

DO YOU HAVE PICTURE to share?........

i want to be leaving the office soon so if you do have a picture... the sooner you post the better.

also.... BOGGS1227..... mine was that orange also... like everyone else's.... but i really didnt care for it at all.... soooooo had it painted black.... i think its a cleaner look and i am happy with it. just thought i would share that bit of info.

murray explorer..... what size tire do you have there... is that the 235-75-15?

thanks pre-h2o ...just wanted to ask you real quick what type of paint you used ? was it that special plastic type paint or did you just ruff it up with sand paper and use regular spray paint .

thank you :salute:

molding

well i actually used a "trim tape"..... its a super adhesive black tape for auto exterior trim..... its AWESOME..... goes in in a second and it last without fading at all... we have some hot weather here... 100 plus for a few months at a time and it hasnt peeled, faded, cracked... nothing!

if you want to get rid of that orange go with that stuff...... you can get it at any pep boys, auto zone or kragen auto stores....

since it worked so well on the explorer i actually used it on the mistress.... you cant really tell its tape... looks just like a matte black paint. i put it on the rear trim of my car.... now its blacked out and i think it looks pretty good.

:)

on the parts that wrap around the bumper is that where you did it ?

got to say ...sharp ! and a good idea .

nope not around the bumper.. there is a molding that wraps around the window seam.. its about half an inch... you can see it in the picture there..... thats what blacks-out the windows...... either way... if you want to do that to your orange stripe... thats a good way to go... make sure it is super super clean for good contact.
