    Buzzing (rattling) Air Conditioning Compressor

Well, I haven't had air conditioning for about 6 months but now the problem is becoming annoying. The compressor is buzzing extremely loud and it is coated in a red substance (this in nowhere else in the engine bay). To top things off, sometimes when I have the heater on defrost, the engine...

    ABS Sensor

Wow, this is an old thread! I never found out what the problem was. I just pulled the fuse and had a cool light for about a year. Then I replaced my rotors one day and put the fuse back in and it worked fine. I think its what Dennis said about the wheel thing on the back of the rotor...

    I love broken transmissions!?!

THere was no difference in shifting in either one. I'm just going to let the shop rebuild the tranny. If this is the case with mine.......I'll be pisssssed!!!!!! It should not go out that soon.....Should it??? Twice in 18 months?!? That's crazy. I think I'd ditch it! Or ditch the...

    I love broken transmissions!?!

Its 6000 miles or 6 months.......unfortunately I put six thousand on in about 2 1/2 months. The transmission guy told me the problem is the shavings/flakes in the pan are being sucked up into the transmission and this causes it not to shift.

    I love broken transmissions!?!

the problem is that it isn't shifting. I have to let the accelerator up for about 5 seconds before it shifts and even then its pretty fishy. I replace the vaccum modulator but it didn't do any good. The explorer has 139,000 miles on it but it runs great!!!! I've kept up with all the fluid...

    I love broken transmissions!?!

Ok....i just called them and the guy said its not metal chunks but its flakes and shavings. I always thought this was kind of normal but he doesn't think so. I asked what all the rebuild includes and he said that it includes all new electrial stuff and torque converter. He said they go the...

    I love broken transmissions!?!

I just took my ex in to the transmission shop. He said that there is metal chunks in the pan and he recommends a rebuild. Thats 1400 to 1700. My father in law thinks maybe I can get a transmission from a junk yard. I know that the tranny's in this gen. ex. sucks so is there any other tranny...

    Transmission problem/question b/c of wreck

I just got back from a transmission shop and he thinks it might be a modulator valve or something like that. I got a new one and will try to replace it soon. Any advice??

    Transmission problem/question b/c of wreck

About 20 minutes ago my transmission started screwing up! It will not change gears unless I release the accelerator for about 5 seconds. This occurs every time it needs to change gears. The fluid was changed about 15 thousand miles ago and the fluid level and color is fine. It has 139000...

    Question about Autozone

I've heard the same thing about the electrical stuff. I bought an alternator for my 89 Cutlass Calais and it quit a week after the warrenty ended. I am more concerned about brakes. I just replaced the front brakes (pads, calipers, rotors) 5 months ago and the pads have already run down. They...

    Question about Autozone

Is everyone satisfied with the parts from Autozone? I used to live and die by Autozone b/c of price but now I am sceptical. It seems as if the parts are not as high on the quality side of the spectrum. I end up replacing alot!! Any opinions?

    Borla header question

Headers for my 94 Hey Joe, Did you install the headers yourself? If so (or if not) what all did it take? Was it easy? How much cash flow?

Whats all involved in a header install?

I know this post is extremely old but I was wondering if there are any 1994 explorers with headers on them. Is it a good idea?

    pro comp or rancho??

Hmm...I didn't think about that but it doesn't matter. I hated them anyways. They hardly made a difference (if any). Maybe I just have too high of expectations for the shocks. I want something I can feel. What about terribly bumpy roads. Birmingham has horrible roads. What about...

    pro comp or rancho??

My gabriels just went out!?! I've had them in for 9 months and they're toast. I might could understand if I was heavy into off roading but I"m not. So now I'm trying to decided what kind of shocks to replace them with. I'm looking to replace the front with either pro comps ($24-$34 a...

    Explorer Reliability

We got our Explorer (94) in Sept. of 2000. It had 69000 miles on it and now we just turned 130000. So far so good. Everything works and no leaking fluid. I agree with everyone else: the main thing to do is make sure it is maintained.

    bolt on exhaust

I put on the force II cat back from flowmaster. It sounds awesome and I haven't had it welded. I just made extra sure it was tight. No noise or rattling. Plus it only cost 169 from Summit Racing. I've had no regrets!

    Got new exhaust!!!!

I just got a force II cat back for my X. It's pretty awesome! At first I thought that it was a little too quiet but the more I drive it the better it sounds! Now the question is "What do I do next??" I want to go with horsepower modifications. I'm thinking BBK TB or Superchip. The only...

    Should I buy this 92'?????????

clunking noise?? The clunking noise might not be anything that serious. It could just be the radius arm bushings. I would get under it and try to see if they move when you push them.

    Life Su*k's =(

About bugeting....I know that I've always had a problem with finances b/c I didn't feel like writing everything down. What helped me was a buget program called "Money Matters" by Larry Burkett. It breaks everything down and makes it easy. Also, you need to get someone to hold you accountable...

    Radius Arm Bushings

the bushing cost around 10 to 15 bucks. The problem is that its hard as a mug to install. I couldn't do it. One of the bolts would not come loose. I took it in and had one replaced for about 70 bucks. P.S. this was in the boon docks so it might cost more in a big city

    Radius Arm Bushings

Hey 1991XLT, Mine made the clunking noise b/c the radius arm bushing was shot on the passenger side. One way to check is to get under your X and try to move the radius arm. Mine moved all over the place and the clunking came from the metal part of the bushing hitting on the nut of the bushing.

    Radius Arm Bushings

what's up basheer? next time I come over we can compare radius arm bushings and possible get some grease or something to go on it. Hey broncoIIguy, what kind of grease should we get?

    ABS Sensor

Thanks for all the reply's. The problem still exists. I have ABS on all four wheels. I replace the rotors and calipers and this is when it all started. The rotors should be ok (I hope). I don't remember seeing any wires when I took the old rotors off (do I have a hub assembly since I am...
