    Top idler pulley bracket broke.

follow up The new idler pulley from ford is part number #6L2Z-6C348-A ...it looks exactly like the tensioner pulley and comes complete with bolt..whew...hardest thing about that project was putting on a new belt!!! that's almost a two person job...a double offset boxed wrench (15 mm) would be...

    Top idler pulley bracket broke.

Yes they are...as I just found out. It is the idler pulley that I'm looking for, and I bought the tensioner pully with bracket and that was not the correct one. So yes, the idler pulley is what I was looking for. I cleaned all of the busted alum threads out of the origianal bolt and I think...

    Top idler pulley bracket broke.

Found them, thanks! Now that I know they are sold as a "tensioner assy" they seem popular, most range from $40 to $65. Thanks for the heads up on that...and just like mentioned above...once the noise starts..you don't have very long until they explode! I had to cut the belt just to get it...

    Top idler pulley bracket broke.

The top idler pulley bearing froze up and the bolt worked its self out and stripped the aluminum threads out of the bracket. Anyone ever had this problem? I guess I will need to replace the bracket but don't see them on the online stores..Would FOMOCO carry these instock? I see the idler pulleys...

    5.0 awd creaking noise

Here's what I've found to date... I have/had two issues. Right front hub went out..at first driving around town, it was kinda like a pimple on the tire or a flat spot sound...a scruffing sound at the same speed as the tire rotation. Then I went on about a 140 mile trip and wasn't sure I...

Should I have used sealant on the pinion seal?

one more question.. How can I make the front driveshaft "free wheel" so I can get to all the capscrews on the drive shaft yolk? it's AWD so do I need to have the rear tires off the ground as well?

Should I have used sealant on the pinion seal?

Good point Oddly enough, when I stopped to pick up my replacement (local auto parts distributor) the new seal was an exact twin to the old seal, the new one was a "Federate" or was it "Federal"? anyway, if I had to guess...yes it was too small and I haven't had the hot rod for very long and...

Should I have used sealant on the pinion seal?

I replaced my front pinion seal yesterday on my '97 5.0 Explorer. That went pretty well, although when I put the new seal in it didn't seam as snug as some seals that I've put in on other projects (different vehicles) the hardest part of the project was trying to refill the axle...what a PITA...

    5.0 awd creaking noise

What they said! I've had my 97 5.0 awd for about a week now..and that's the first thing I noticed as well. I thought it might be wheel bearing or a bad hub rather but after I get rolling it goes away and that doesn't go with the thought of it being a bad bearing. My step-son has the exact same...
