Clutch pedal bushing keeps wearing out

Recently bought a 1999 ford ranger, the master cylinder bushing gets worn down very quickly and the clutch pedal goes to the floor, and i haven't found a fix for it. I've gone through 5 of the bushings in the past two months, and need a permanent fix. Any suggestions?

1998 Ford Explorer Manual Trans: Bleeding Master & Slave

Hello, This Explorer will not shift into gear while the engine is on. The clutch is less than three years old. I visually checked the slave cylinder through the rubber plug in the bellhousing and it is dry, therefore I'm assuming it's okay. The master cylinder fluid reservoir was empty. I...

No fluid when bleeding front driver side brakes

So we replaced the pads, and later the calipers. About 3 weeks later the driver's side tire locked up/caliper seized. I took both calipers off to be safe, sprayed both with PB BLAST, let soak, wiped off the gunk. Cleaned everything with Brake Cleaner, then sprayed the calipers with heavy duty...

No one can figure this out!! (Brakes)

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am at the end of the line with my 2011 Ex limited, 110k miles. Problem- about once in every 10 times driving it, and only in stop and go traffic my brakes go VERY soft. I mean so soft that I can push down to where they end. ( I always know it’s...

Spongy and Airy Brake Pedal - Brakes Giving Out - Master Cylinder?

Hi friends! When I press the brake pedal, it makes a 'whoosh' air sound like bellows. It goes down quite a ways before it starts applying decent braking. When at a stop (red light, for instance), the truck will want to creep forward and I have to press the brake pedal even harder...

    Brake issues

I recently replaced all the lines on my 91 explorer. Bled the system until no air bubbles were coming out of the bleeders. Pedal is nice and hard until I start the explorer up. After that the pedal is spongy and goes all the way to the floor. Brakes work but the pedal is not what it was like...

Need some brake advise. It's a 02 Explorer, ABS and 4 wheel disk brakes. My brakes were working fine on the Explorer then yesterday morning I started it up and the brake pedal pretty much goes to the floor. I can still stop the vehicle but it doesn't seem safe; too much brake travel and on...

Do I need to bench bleed a master cylinder?

The brake booster recently went out in my 94 Explorer XLT. It was leaking vacuum through the firewall, the cruise control would not engage, and the brake pedal was stiff. I need to disconnect the brake lines in order to remove the master cylinder. After I do this, do I need to bench bleed the...

    Master Cylinder Adapter

Hello all- I picked up a new MC for my '98 XLT (four door and w/ cruise control) and noticed that the rear fitting is larger than that on the stock MC I am replacing. The fittings on the stock MC are the same size. Has anyone who's replaced an MC had this issue and, if so, do you know what...

How do I avoid an ABS bleed?

Is there a way to swap master cylinder/vac booster w/o getting air in the HCU? I have a 93 Sport 2wd with 4w ABS. The brakes work great, but the MC has a slow leak (light comes on and I top it off every 2-3 months). The vacuum booster has missing paint and some rust right below the MC attach...

Good day, all! I have a 1994 Explorer 4.0 4X4 completely stock. I had the front brakes completely replaced in April, 2011: master, discs, pads, lines. Last week, it started getting squirrely going down the road and braking. Also, the brakes got very touchy including the right tire grabbing...

    Brakes weak in quick-stop situations.

Hello, I've got a question about my moms '96 5.0 Explorer. She recently said the brakes didn't feel quite right so I drove it and under normal conditions (light braking for stop signs/lights, city driving, etc.) they felt great. But, when I would make "quick" or "panic" stops, it would take a...
