00 4.0 explorer idle problems

Hi guys, I just bought a explorer not too long ago for the wife and its startin to give me some problems.

every once in a while it just wont idle and stay running. As long as you put a little bit of pressure on the gas it runs fine. It does this when its hot or cold. Its not throwing any codes at all and never has. It still shifts and runs fine when its acting up.... as long as you keep your foot on the pedal a little bit. Itll act up for a while then it goes back to running fine like there was nothing wrong with it. I think the explorer just turned over 100k. BTW it is the 4l sohc engine. Clean the IAC valve

I suggest that you try cleaning the IAC valve if it hasn't been cleaned recently.

Sounds exactly like the iac valve as Streetrod says. It only takes a couple minutes to take it off and clean it.

Agreed...definitely sounds like rthe IAC valve. However, cleaning it does not always work. Definitely try cleaning first, but you may need a new one....I did.
