I'm replacing all 4 ball joints do I want to put the jack stands under the lower control arms and lower down all the way so full support of vehicle is rested on them? I know I should know this but embarrassingly Im new to mechanicing. Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

No. Place you safety stands under the front body mount (near the firewall). There's a bracket there that works well.

You can jack the truck up from the jack hooks located on the front of the lower control arm. You only need to get the tire off the ground a few inches. If you're using a floor jack be careful. They lift in an arc and can slide off the jack hook.

When you change ball joints can you only lift and support one side at a time or both?

I do both. One side really has nothing to do with the other.
