00 Explorer Mach system rear door speakers?

My rear door speakers don't have the nice crisp highend response that the front door speakers have. Does anyone know offhand what the differences in speakers are? Can one put good front speakers in the rear doors?

The rear speakers are just the standard ones that come with the premium system. I'd try and find a front set from a salvage yard and replace them.

I dont think it is the speakers. If you swap the front and rear speaker the sound will not change. Most car audio equipment that has front and rear outs, put out a slighty different frequency range on the front and rears.Same goes with the speaker outputs on the deck. I never use rear rca outputs on a head unit or eq.

'00 Rear Mach door speakers

"IAmTodd" was correct - a "cost reduction" action was taken in '99 that replaced the rear door speakers with "Premium" units instead of "Audiophile". Putting a pair of fronts in the rear from a boneyard, as he suggested, WILL improve the sound (slightly).
