I read conflicting reports on this here on the forum. One guy says he had a 00m12 recall kit installed.....another guy stated he bought the kit and the parts were wrong stating he had a one piece manifold and larger O-ring gaskets.

I had the 00M12 recall work done at the dealer because I was lucky and mine was still under the extended warranty. One thing I have run into with the 01 Sport is that there are two models for that year. Production dates up to 7/24/00 takes one type of part and after that takes another part. It's pretty confusing until you find when your Ex was produced. Mine was a pre-07/24/00 so it is essentially a 2000 model whereas afterwards the parts are 2001. Hope this helps.

yeah 2nd gen vs 3rd gen.....

All of the SOHC engines have four specific part(s) which should be replaced periodically. Most people are told of only one or two, or discover one or two.

The rear cassette would be nice to change, but it is a huge job to do, I have skipped that one.

Both cam tensioners should be changed, as well as the front cam cassette(Every 75k-100k). Good luck,
