Hi, I have a 2001 explorer XLT with a 5l this is the AWD model. I bought this used recently and just noticed that the vent selector is stuck to defrost/floor. I pulled apart the dash and check the controls for voltage and everything is good to go, but I din't notice any vaccum coming from the main feed line, I further tore away at the dash and found some sort of vac. distrobution box, but there was no vac. coming from the feeder line. I then went to the engine bay and started looking for a loose vac line, but didn't see any. I then pushed down every vac line to make sure none were just looking like they were on tight. still no luck. I am sure at this point there is some valve (egr maybe?) that is stuck shut or clogged. Any ideas? This is my first ford and I have been a life long chevy and dodge guy so I am a bit lost when it comes to fords, but i do know my way around under a hood.

turned out to be a broken line right at a connector going into what appeared to be an evaporator that was located on the passenger side way up by the lights/grill and under a lot of brackets and other euipment (was hidden from view and only found by feeling the entire line length that was not visable).

I cut the broken end back and then used a bit of rubber tubing and some RTV sealant to join the broken sections. Now it works like a charm.

Come to think of it, after I wrecked my truck a couple years ago the repair guy didnt connect the vacuum line to that round ball in that similar area and I had the same problem. Glad you got it fixed.
