Sometimes when I first start my exp.sport and put it gear sometimes it stubles and dies. Heres the odd part if I let it warm up and idle down to 500 rpm's it doesn't do it. I've already cleaned the maf and iac valve. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time

How many miles are on it? Have you done a tune up?

it has 132,453 miles and I changed the plugs and wires at 127,232 miles

It could still be the IAC valve, even though you cleaned it. You could try cleaning it more, or swap it out and see if the problem improves.

Have you ever had the intake manifold gaskets replaced? They're prone to leaking, which can also cause idle problems.

I'll try cleaning it again if that don't work i'll replace it shouldn't cost much sense i work a parts store.

Mine started stumbling on start up just after I changed my plugs and wires. It will stumble and stall but when I restart it a second time its fine. It's real weird.

When my IAC went bad my truck would just crank and crack and not start. The only way i could get it to start was to pump the gas pedal once or twice.

The intake gasket leak problem is good to know though. My explorer has this same problem periodically and it seems to run a little rougher then it used to.

Save yourself the extra work. Change both sets of gaskets at once.

I did the uppers only first. It seemed to solve the problem for the first couple days, then the night time temps got colder. The rough running/stall when cold problem returned. So, two weeks later I ended up tearing back down to change the lowers. If I would have known it was only an extra 20 minutes to the whole job, I would have done both sets at once. The old lowers were so stiff they almost seemed that they would be brittle.

She's been runnin like a top ever since.

is there any coolant lines running to the intake

I agree with 2000streetrod... there's a bunch of vac lines, but no coolant. It's pretty straight forward. If you're unsure, pick up the repair manual, it helps out on this, along with quite a few other things you might have questions on.

In my book it says to take the lower intake off, you need to remove the valve covers, fan, and shroud. I did not take any of that off. (maybe the book is going for a complete engine teardown, so it made sence to take all that off in this step.)

The book is wrong, plain and simple. There are several thousand of us on this board that have done it, and literally hundreds of thousands of them on the road that were repaired at dealerships without removing the valve covers. There's simply no need to.

And I'm all about the lower intake manifold gaskets being the issue on this one. There's no point in doing just the upper... Or doing just the gaskets without installing the rest of the service kit for the 00M12 TSB. The lower is only another dozen or so screws.

like I said, I believe "the book" is in the process of a complete engine teardown, so that's probably why they listed the valve covers, fan, and shroud in this step.

But again, none of the rest of us that have done the gasket job, needed to remove any of the three items listed above. I was just quoting the book, and letting it be known that that step was not necessary to complete this fix.

thanks for the help ill try replacing the intake gaskets next payday.
