01 Explorer Sport Rough Cold Idle

That black cap was supposedly done away with since it got dirty in there? I am pretty sure I heard that. Some took that cap off and cleaned under it. Mine doesnt have that black cap.

yea so i replaced the IAC and it runs alot better the engine doesn't sound like it wants to die and also I noticed when I accelerate i don't have the rpms's reving as high as they did before and it accelerates smoother but now i have a another problem from the cold weather my oil gauge doesn't come on and my engine gets oil but runs like it wants to bog a little bit still until the engine warms up then the gauge kicks on and it idles smooth and quiet this has been happening the last 2 winters and it's annoying

What weight oil do you use? When the engine is cold, the oil is real thick. It takes a while to warm up to temperature. Tell us the weight you use and where you live. I use 5w-30 for winter. Its thinner, and gets flowing quicker then 10w30.

Thanks totally forgot

I am due for a oil change and I run 10w30 in the summer and run 5w30 in the winter but in october i never switched because of how warm it was. thanks

There you go. That should help out a bit.

did it help?

It won't... I have the same issue on the same vehicle, and I changed over to 5W30 for the winter at my last oil change. I, too, run 10W30 in the summer and 5W30 in the winter. It's likely the lower intake manifold gaskets. I've got the parts sitting in the garage, just haven't gotten around to changing them yet. That's my plan for Christmas Break next week... We'll see if I get around to it.
