I have an 01 explorer sport and it flucuates in the morning from 2000rpm and then down to 500rpm. I've been reading a lot for earlier explorer models about the 00m12 recall. I was wondering if my Sport is showing symptoms for a 00m12 fix..OR if its just the Mass air flow sensor. Because My used dealer orderd me a new one. Hopefully the MAS is the case. Any comments would help. i'd appreciate it! thanx!

You can try cleaning your MAF sensor & your IAC.. Do a search on it, there should be lots of results on each topic. Also if you have a 4.0 SOHC then I would highly suggest getting the recall done..

Thanx for the help. I actually went to ford and got the 00m12 recall issue taken care of. And now in the morning, it starts PERFECT..no hard shaking, no stalling, and no "knocking sound" when i punch the gas. I even noticed the throttle response was quicker! Thanx for everyones help! Now my sport runs like a champ! :D

In his thread, he was looking as pictures that didn't match his engine parts. If I can remember, there were two different engines in the 01 sport. because there was a time when I was looking for an Intake, and the intake didn't match my Explorer. My engine looked like an engine from previous Sport Years (Before '01).
