- 2001 Ford Explorer XLT
So I just bought a prerunner lifted 2001 ford explorer with 102k miles and it started up just fine for a week after I got it. I took it up to big bear for the weekend on Friday and when I went to start it Saturday morning it would not turn over unless I gave it gas although as soon as I let my foot off the gas it would just die. After driving it around for about 20-30 minutes (using the brake and gas to keep it running) it ran just fine. However, everytime I went to start it I had to give it gas to get it running. I thought it just might be the altitude and the cold but it did the same thing this morning at home. Had to drive it around for about 20-30 minutes to get it to stay running. Any idea of what it could be? I've searched the forums and haven't been able to find anything like it. I bought a fuel filter to change out thinking it might be clogged but if that is not the issue then i will return it. Please help.
