I think my 270,000 mi Sport Trac is finally about done.
Recently it started making a noise that sounded like a bad wheel bearing from what I could tell. It was grinding in what I thought was the front tire and something sounded wrong. I noted that the vehicle seemed hesitant to roll backwards and needed gas to get it to move and overcome some serious resistance. I changed the wheel bearing, but that didn't fix the problem.
As of now, I have my truck parked. It is a 5spd and I tried to roll it backwards and push as hard as I could. The truck won't budge and something is binding. If I put it in reverse, it might grind a little back, but won't move much.
I got under the truck and can't see anything wrong. I pushed up on the drive shaft and it doesn't have any slop. Any ideas folks? My last option is to just donate it at this point. I only kept it around for errands or the occasional change of pace.
