Hello. I have an o2 E/B with the 4L SOHC. I'm assuming that it has the 5R55E tranny. I've had the vehicle for a year now and have noticed a couple of issues with the tranny.
1. Sometimes, not all the time, when shifting the vehicle into Drive from Park there is a split hesitation and the engine 'jumps'. Just as if you held the brake with one foot and stabbed the throttle with the other. In reverse it rarely does it but has done it on occasion.
2. Most important problem: Several times while pulling onto the street the truck accelerates normal in first and then when it hits 2nd the engine revs as if it just got bumped into neutral. I've manually pulled it down into the next gear and it has worked fine. Doesn't do it all the time-maybe 2-3 times a month.
Is this a VB issue or a solenoid?
No codes and I'm ready to do a trans service.
What issues in particular does the Sonnax kit correct?
Thank you........John

John.... assuming you have the 5R55E.... for Q #2..the shift into 2nd is just the application of the OD band. A number of factors can affect this shift. Your band may need adjustment..... your shift servo may have hardening seals...your VB "could" be part of the issue, especially the EPC solenoid.

Sonnax does not make a "kit"... just offers various parts. I recommend you read and consider doing the 5R55E ValveBody Rebuild Diary fixes. Read that thread in the stickies AND the Stairway thread... together I think THAT set may add life to your tranny....

As for Question number 1...I really have no idea, not run across that before.... sounds like possiibly it could be sensor issues (MAF,TPS, etc).

Thanks Glacier. I'll certainly read those. I've done C4/C6 Ford trannies before so I'm all ears for any suggestions on this tranny. I see specs on the forum for the band adjustment. Thanks...it'll be a couple of days for sure but I'll certainly keep you posted. This is a great site by the way. Tons of information and enthusiasts willing to help out. Works great. Thanks again........John

Always happy to help... especially my good friends across our northern border.
