02 Eddie Bauer Problems Galore

I bought this truck 5 days ago for 12k and its running great next thing i know im driving down the road and the tranny starts slipping both of my rear wheels fall off and the axle going from the rear differential to the transmission goes throug the floor of the truck almost taking out my head then the tranny comes lose and falls out of the bottom of the truck. Next thing i know i get out of the truck to check out wtf just happened and door comes lose off the hinges. Now the unknown dealer has moved location and i cannot find him and has given and the number is no longer in service. The Ford Dealer quoted me $7,563 in repairs

Welcome to the board....All I can say is wow...And that although I'm sympathetic...I find it very hard to believe!

None of the problems you mention are common/known issues with Explorers.
02's have their common problems but... its none of those!
Someone has been messing with that truck.

Do you have pictures of this?


For the rear wheels to come off, the axles must have come out, and for that to happen, the ball joints must have let go.

I cant see how the drive shaft would then come up though the floor as you're moving forward and that part should have stayed bolted to the transmission (I don't believe explorer drive shafts are slide in types)

There has to be some way to get in touch with the dealer you bought this from. Your county has to have records of who owned the company.

Did you do any research before buying as $12k seems very top dollar for an 02.

It's more prevalent than one might think.

A lot of forums are even getting robo-struck and have the "type the words seen below" security verifications now for searches like Craigslist has for posting!
