02 Expl - No Codes - No Start - Checked fuses - Help!!

I have an 02 Explorer (with 122,000 miles) that won’t start and doesn’t give any codes. It was running fine but after I stopped for a quick errand, then it wouldn’t start. I had it towed home and been checking for obvious things. When I try to start the engine, it seems to steadily try and turn over but no luck. It almost sounds flooded but I know that’s not it, just trying to describe how it sounds when trying to start up.

I checked both fuse boxes and pulled everyone but they all looked good. The battery seems fine (reads 12.2V) and is only 2 years old (were in moderate climate). Spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter, transmission filter were all changed about 28,000 miles ago. In the past couple years, I have had a few weird electrical things pop up (stereo volume/CD player acting funny, Air bag light pop on for weeks/months then go away, but nothing major).

Anyone have some ideas?? Help?? Don’t want to go to the stealership.

Check for spark, could be a dead coil.

1-turn the ignition on see if you can hear the fuel pump trying to start
2-if the pump is trying to engage then check to see if you have spark ....-
(actually first of all see if you gas in the tank )

Fuel pump, very common

Well I checked the ignition coil pack and it all seemed to be within range as specified (see below). My reading were 0.9 ohms on the primary and 13 K on the secondary. I was hoping that was it cause it would have been an easy fix. However, I still need to check the spark. I'll be going to the local auto zone in the next hour to pick up a calibrated ignition tester as recommended in Haynes.

Then I'll move on to the fuel pump. The fuel pump does make the whirring noise as I turn the key to the on position, but I'll have to read more detail about fuel pump testing in Haynes.

Check the fuel pump cutoff in the passenger kick....maybe ?

UPDATE:

While doing the spark check, I tried to relive the fuel pressure at the Schrader valve before doing the spark test (as recommended in Haynes) but there was no pressure at that point. I made sure to try and start it right before I tried to relive the pressure, but there was none. So now I pretty darn sure its the fuel pump.

I did check the fuel shutoff also, to make sure it wasn't simple like that but no luck. There are no fuel leaks in the garage, so not that.

So now I have to order a $250 fuel pump and get it in there.
