i see the 02 and up have a 2 peice drive shaft with a plastic coller over the slip joint in the middle , when i push the center of the shaft up or down sidways it moves in all directions is this normal ? when i put the truck in reverse and hit or tap the gas i hear a crack noise in the center rear i checked the u joints and there tight . i only get play in that center slip joint in the driveshaft could that cause the crack noise i hear has anyone had problems with there driveshaft ?

any takers ?

That doesn't sound normal at all to me. The driveshaft should be rigid I would think. I'd look under mine, but I can't get underneith the thing, it's too low!!

thank you ill have to look into it further

I have the same sound, plus some clicking on take off when going from reverse to drive. Ford is replacing my Driveshaft. I'll let you know if that takes care of it.

Update, new driveshaft installed today with new U-joints. Still have the clunking and clicking. Ford told me to bring it back next week so they could give me a loaner while they take a little more time to try and diagnose the problem. I'll let you know what they come up with.

Has yours been fixed yet? If so, what was the issue?
