Ok..I've made the plunge and purchased the solenoid pack on e-bay. Now I will venture into uncharted waters using Borland's wonderful instructions I found here at this link:
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164055&highlight=Solenoid+replacement
Since I only recently had the whole tranny flushed and refilled with Mercon V I should be able to utilize the majority of the ATF if I capture it properly(that will be the hard part working in confined space in my garage with no lift.
Left to purchase before I begin are a t-30 wrench, the NPT barb tool( I found lots of 1/8 x 27 NPT's in plastic form...will that work as opposed to the oem brass one that costs $20?). The goofs at AAMCO just stuck a hose up into the bottom of the pan and pumped in the ATF(Dextron btw which started my whole problem in the beggining I might add). Also some 1/4 hose and something to catch the draining fluid.
I have a question....in Borland's instructions he mentions:
"Draining ATF with 22mm wrench. Only about 4 qts drained". Is this a seperate drain plug on the 5r55w besides the one on the bottom of the pan....sure looks like it according to the picture?
Anyways......wish me luck and I sure hope I don't wind up getting it towed to garage to finish
.
Thanks again,
Tim
