02 explorer stereo DIN

ok i know this is a newb question here but ive just started getting into buying a stereo system for my explorer

i know that my 02 explorer has a DIN of 2 but is it possible to install a DIN of 1 into it?
do i need a special kit?

yeah you will just have to get an installation kit. it will have a space for the single din head unit and it will also have a "storage pocket" in it. keep in mind you will also need a wire harness and an antenna adapter.
