02 Ford Ranger Exaust

I have an 02 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0. and i don't know what to do with the exaust.. it has the stock system on it. i don't have a whole lot of money to waste on a full system.. if i cut the present muffler out, and switch it out with a glass pack, would it sound decent?

Instead of a glasspacked muffler, you should go with a Thrush Turbo muffler. It is about the same cost, and will sound alot better. It will still give you a throaty sound, but keep quiet. It is what is on my Expo and I love it.

I had a 2000 Ranger with the 3.0 V-6 before my current Explorer. I had a Flowmaster 40 Series American Thunder muffler put on it with a single 2.5 inch cat back system. Sounded real good...and with the stainless Flowmaster tip it looked as good as it sounded.

thanks.. i ended up puttin a glasspack on there.. but i am gonna end up cuttin 1 of the 2 cats off and put a straight pipe in its place.. the glass pack sounds all right but its not as loud as i want it to be. so i think removing the cat will help.

i have an 02 Ex with a 4.0. I just cut the muffler off and put a straight pipe in and kept it factory looking and the sound is pretty good and loud, only downside is that it has some "pop" but I like it.
