02' Limited Clunking on Drivers front corner.....

Hello all, I am new to the site and new to explorers as I just purchased mine recently... I bought a 02' Explorer Limited V8, I am hoping I can find an answer to here to a problem I am having......


driving along all is find I let off the gas and coast and I will get a clunking sound from the drivers side front corner...... almost like the 4x4 is trying to engage or disengage...... while it is clunking if I press the 4x4 button the sound goes away........ untill i go back to Auto 4x4....

Sometimes it is fine and soemtimes it is a problem.... every day ot every other day..........


Does anyone have any insight on this? any help would be much appreciated... it will be going up on the hoist next week....

these trucks are very sensitive to different tire sizes, measure the tread make sure all are very similar, check tire pressure, that front left tire is probably 5 or more psi lower then the rest so the auto system is sensing that tire going faster then the rest therefore it "thinks" that tire is slipping
