Good morning everyone! I recently purchased a 02 Exp. LTD. Well it has been less than a month and my battery died. My wife had taken it to visit her mother for the weekend, luckily her neighbor is a mechanic and put the battery in for them. Here is where my problem occurred...

After installing the battery the remote to the anti-theft no longer is functioning. The door locks inside are disabled and the radio must be turned off manually when exiting the vehicle. I looked in the manual and of course list some self-programming ideas for the remote, keyless entry, door locks etc.. I tried but pretty much knew this wouldn't fix the problem. I had a friend of mine check it out and the fuses seem to be O.K. I looked around for a reset button or something that might engage the alarm, door locks, etc.. but zilch.

Can someone please help me out, I already have a sour taste in my mouth about this purchase after having to purchase a new battery less than a month after the purchase.

Hello,

I don't have an answer to your question but I also have a 2002 ford explorer and I love it! We bought it las november and we don't know the keyless entry code. Could you tell me how to reset it?

Thanks so much,
Tera

If u can't find the original manual that came with the vehicle it is in your passenger side door panel which has to be removed.

If you the original manual to the vehicle then u might be in luck as there should be a card that has the five digit code in side the wallet or manual.

Hope this helps. ;)

keyless entry

I do have the Original zippered pouch. I will check there. Thanks for your help.

Well no luck with it being in the manual. I have to pull off the panel on the front or rear passenger side door?

the panel on the passenger side.

We are in the process of changing the wheel bearing in the rear. have you had to change yours?

Tera

yes my right Drvers side..

Is this the grinding noise I hear sometimes? Meaning the bearing, have read many posts about this issue with the '02's. This is something that is expensive or since so many problems with this issue is Ford taking care of it?

Anyone have suggestions for my problem that I first stated in my thread? :(

unless you know someone at the ealer or your explorer is under warranty. they will not take care of it...
cost me around $400.00 +

I was charged 650.00 for the left rear bearing. The right rear bearing is out now and we are trying to get it off and bring it to a shop to press it for us. The part itself is only $150.00 at www.fordpartsonline.com. they have the hook up for parts.
