Ended up pulling the hatch and glass harness from the old hatch and shattered window and swapped it out today. Good to go except wiper motor which was corroded badly. Left wiper unhooked until I can get some pb sprayed and soak it good. Don't need to break the new glass. All lights and locks buttons work properly now.
Next issue is a weird one. And was before I ever touched the truck, you have to leave the positive battery cable loose. If you tighten it, it won't start, just a single click and the entire truck goes dead. They are having to go out and hold it tight to the post while somebody cranks it. If it clicks or doesn't crank enough to start, you have to pull the cable off for a few seconds and try again. Now I'm thinking bad cables, and possibly screwing with the security module with the crappy connection. Anybody heard of it before or are they just nuts and too cheap to replace the cable? Not sure I want to keep working on this thing with all the problems they're having other than the hatch I replaced.... poor truck is pretty beat. V8 awd digital hvac etc. The combination I want but it's rough and sounds like a diesel as well as tranny problems. I'd have to part it if It was offered to me.... but people gotta make do with what they have I guess.
