All right, I bought this '02 Mountaineer AWD 4.6L last weekend, It's got 72,000 miles on it. I'm gonna be done farming in a couple weeks for the year so I'll actually have time to drive/ work on it. What should I do for maintanence at this interval. Only thing I know is that the oil and brakes were done 2 days before I bought it. It drives, shifts and runs excellent. Planning to put on a new fuel filter and check the air breather. What else should be done at this mileage?

If there are no other issues, sounds like you are more or less good to go. You might consider changing the diff and t-case fluids, checking your wheel bearing and ball joints, but other than that you shouldn't have any issues for quite a while...

The only 2 noises that I had, which I fixed one already, was the front right brake shield was rubbing something from when they did the brakes, I pulled on it a bit and that sound is gone. The other one is the belt chirp, which is slight, but with the radio down you can hear it. Other than that, everything in the front end feels tight as new, no shimmies, and it holds the road straight when I let go of the wheel. I did notice the back tires have a bit of wear on the outsides, like they may have been on the front and rotated to the back, but they still have at least a years worth of tread on them. Probably have an alignment done when I get new tires.

If it is a fluid or a filter, replace it. Transmission fluid/filter, air filter, gear oil, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, etc.
