Have no 4 x 4 on my 02 after removing battery cables for adding a new radio/amp. I have checked fuses, ok and all the cables are attached good to the 4x4 control module. Is the 4x4 cm where my problem lies and if you replace this unit do you need to have it dealer programed? Also what happens when you need to replace the existing battery?

did you make sure you plugged in the harness in back of the 4x4 switch on the radio surround. that should be the only part of the 4x4 system you tampered with.

I have checked the switch connections and they are all tight and locked on. When we found out it stopped working we went back through all the things we disconnected when we put in the new radio.

In my research about my fathers blinking 4x4 lights, I found that some people have this problem after re-connecting the battery. The 4x4 module behind the glove box can just give up when the battery is re-connected.

My fathers was fixed with a new control module.
www.directfordparts.com has the cheapest price on them.
They'll need your VIN to provide the correct one.

Very common problem on the 02's. (dads is an 02)

search the forum for 4x4 control module, or blinking 4x4 lights.
