Hy Ho Fellow EXP. Owners,
I have recently experienced a problem with my 02 explorer.
While turning (usually right) at low speeds I experience a shudder in the front end. I am assuming that is the clutches in the limited slip rear end.
My Father-in- Law(a mech.) put an additive in about 3 days ago but the problem is worse. Anyone have this experience? And what was the outcome?

no additional additive is needed...
if he added more additive, it may be too much.
Might be a good idea to just replace all the fluid in the rear diff with synthetic fluid (that's what's recommended by Ford, too)

Did you just leave the same fluid in and then put the additive in it? Yeah I would suggest draining it out and just put new fluid in. If you have the Limited slip diff, you can put a friction mod additive in it but its not required, and if you do dont put too much.

I also suggest synethetic, and of course highly recommend AMSOIL 100% synthetic, I can help ya out if you want, just PM me or something.

Are you sure it is comming from the front????So far i have replaced alot of clutch pack in the rear of these Explorers due to a failure that Ford has put a TSB out on.
Remember the diff is now solid mounted to the frame because it is a IRS in the rear.
