Just a few minutes ago I passed by the back of my X and noticed the right rear wheel & tire leaning real bad out at the bottom.

So I pulled it into the garage and jacked it up under the differential to get both tires off the floor.

Sure enough. I took a carpenters level and put it against the left tire and it was dead on level top to bottom.

But the right one is 1/2" farther in at the top! Damn!

What in the world can cause that?

I did notice that both coil springs are broke on the very last coil. But that shouldn't make any difference since their both broke. I will fix those myself. But this leaning has me worried..

The camber is off. I dunno if its adjustable but if its not, that means there's a part thats bent, or the ball joints are just really loose.

wow those are pretty cheap..good deal on the find.

Good luck in fixing it.

Did you rotate the wheel when you had it in the air? I may not be anything more than a bent wheel.

Actually you know what, the broken rear coil is probably whats causing the odd camber because the lower and upper arms I'm sure are not equal length.

Both springs is broke. But like I said I have both rear tires off the floor which means the A arms are both at their max travel.

Springs broke or not shouldn't make a difference.

A bent wheel with a 1/2" difference would shake me outta the seat:D

Okay, I think Im on to something.

I was looking for a reason why this wheel is leaning so bad and so far I think this is it.

They are adjustable per my Ford DVD.

And I found that the left metal keeper has the bolt on center (yellow).
The right one (green) is way off to the right which would throw the bottom of the wheel out. Factorys fault!

I also took some pics of the broke springs.

Those are the non-adjustable washers for the wheels... You can buy the adjusting kit which will let you adjust (I have the ingalls +-1 degree) them.

Well I thought about adjusting it myself but then there is the toe-in.
So I just as well take it to get it done professionally.

I first want to take it to the local dealer and point out Ford did this.
I cant believe this has been on the road since '02 with the tire that crooked.

Well, I took it to a tire/alignment shop. And he hooked it up on one of those new 4 wheel computerized machines, and printed out this sheet and said it is in spec.

Bull sugar! No way. Is there any alignment guys here? Then I took it to my local Ford dealer and he agreed when he saw the sheet.
