I guess this is the 'bread box' style i've heard about? First time to see this funny looking thing. Guess it's better cuss that's about the time the HP rating went up on the 4.0 SOHC from 205 to 210.
According to the 2002 - 2004 Ford Service Manual (which I downloaded here http://www.fordcds.com/ and it's buggy as hell) both the V6 and V8 Explorers have bolt on TBs. I'd cut and paste the images for you if I could figure out how. Apparently the repair manual runs in a program that doesn't support Windows cut and paste function?? Anyway, looks just like the KKM pic you posted.
