'02 XLT Tranny and Crusie Control problems??

Anyone experience any type of freespin before the tranny engages while driving? Numerous times over the past year the tranny will spin and then slam into gear, no grinding or loud noises, just a noticable jolt. Local service dept took it apart and found nothing.

Also, live in Colorado and drive into the mountains, twice over the past 3 months, cruise control disengaged while driving uphill. Any thoughts?
