Ok everyone- this might sound a little foolish -but here goes. I own a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport.I was on a highway drive the other night & I noticed - for the first time - that there is illumination for the crusie control on/off switch set on left side of steering wheel but NO illumination for the set accel/resume/coast switch pack on the right side of the steering wheel. Now- I have owned this vehicle for 9 years and I guess this seemed wrong to me. I did look at the factory wiring diagram/schematic and it indicates 2 bulbs for illumination with a feed from the park lights through the air bag clock spring contacts. That would coincide with 2 bulbs to illuminate the on/off switch pack . Now- can I ask fellow 2000 Explorer owners to check and see if there is illumination only on the on/off switch pack on the right side of steering wheel on there resepective vehicles ? If there is illumination on both switch packs-left & right side of steering wheel- then I have a problem with the air bag clock spring contacts or the set accel/resume coast switch pack. Incidentally- I tested the cruise control that same evening and all functions work normally. Thanks for your assistance.

No, they are on both sides, the bulbs frequently blow out. There are a few threads about it...

what joe said. your best bet (if your even ok at doing it) is solder some L.E.D. bulbs in. they will never burn out.

yes, each side has a wierd little green bulb. you might me able to find a replacement bulb, but i don't think there is any way to change it w/out destroying the control buttons. only reason i know is because one of my controls has no top left on it and of course the good side is the one where the bulb is burn out. I had to take out the good bulb as it was too bright w/out the covering.

Thanks for your help guys- I was convinced this was not right once I noticed it. I 'll place an order for replacement switch cluster and get it fixed up soon. Thanks again.
