I joined last week when I bought an Explorer off of my next door neighbor. He just retired from the Ford plant in Avon. He sold the Explorer 'cuz it was his late wife's ride. She passed last year, and he really did'nt drive it that much himself. I previously bought an old '88 F-250 from him and it works like a bull! That one sat for about 3 years before he'd let it go, and then only when he bought a new F-350! You might say he's a Ford "true beleiver".
I have been reading many of the posts here, and find some of them fasinating. You folks are really a wealth of information. The Explorer is being used by my Wife daily and she loves it. It looks so good, her co-workers thought she got a 'New' car. I guess she finally figured out it was worth the ninety bucks to have it detailed.
I replaced and painted the cracked rear hatch plastic over the weekend. It was harder to remove the old one, than it was to get the new one back on. Usually is , I guess. Next project will be the rear diff whine. I read the TSB posted here and was wondering about it. Does anyone know what the Ford dealer charges for the kit? Will they sell just the kit? Has anyone had any success in just changing the fluid to the heavier synthetic?
Even though the Beast rides like a truck she looks great! And the wife looks pretty good driving her, too. Her Dad is a G.M. retiree (sic) (sick!) and he'll have a crap when he see's her driving it, but the smile on her face is worth it.
Thanks
Edward
