'02 XLT V8
Okay so i just bought this rig off of EBAY for $2600. It is a 2002 XLT V8 with 155000 miles on it, has a rebuilt motor around 40000 mile ago. I bought it with known trans problems, hence the great price. Here is what the guy (used dealer) told me about the trans. He put it on a computer and it shows the following codes "P1700 which is Trans Intermediate Fault and P0745 which is Trans pressure control solenoid". I think that from reading other posts here the P0745 solenoid can be fixed by replacing the solenoid valve body?? What about the other code?? I have changed engines, axles, swaped tranny's but i have never tore into one. Any help would be great.... Thanks in advance.

don't quote me on this because i'm not positive, but i believe that sometimes with these vehicles when one thing goes it can toss 2 codes for that one thing. Best thing I can say is try a new solenoid pack first and see if that works before you invest in a rebuild kit.

i'm sure someone else will have more helpful information

That's what i thought i should do, although i have never driven this XLT other than onto the trailer. I found a re-man 5R55W for $1250 shipped to my door. How hard would it be to swap this unit out?? I have dropped tranny's before, but never on something this new. Think i might go that route..... Any suggestions??

That reman sounds like a good deal but what did they do to it?? any idea. I paid 1600 for a rebuild . . .worse case you can bring the truck and trans in see how much he would swap it in . . unless you have a lift, air tools etc. . its heavy. . .

edit: you might replace the VB and still find something else wrong with . . .so depending on the type of rebuild, it might be you best shot to fix it for a while. .

If you've done all this then you won't have a problem. Keep searching this site and you will find tones of great and life saving information. It could be just needing a few solinoids in the valve body replaced and a few minor updates while your in there.

Aside from the Solenoid VB, what other "UPDATES" should i be doing while i am in there?? How can i tell if the truck has received the "Flash Update" people on other posts have been talking about?? Thanks.
