I have an 03 Explorer Eddie Bauer w/ factory sub. I just recently purchased a new head unit (touch screen, dvd, reverse camera, etc.) I did buy a new harness but not quite sure it's the right one. It is made by Scosche part # FDK106. Anybody know if that is the right one? Any tips for the install?

so my new head unit harness is set up like this. The plug that goes into the new head unit, then some free wires (power amp sub ground illumination) then also has a group of wires that goes into another plug. Am I supposed to cut that and wire those wires into the harness adapter I bought?

I have a alpine IVE-w535HD DVD player in mine. For me all the wires from deck harness connect with the harness that plugs into factory except the amp, power antenna and some possible a pink one (would need to pull out deck to verify). Just match respective wires. Unless you make new wires from all speakers.
*Not responsible for any possible trouble you may get in* But if you need any help getting the DVD to play while driving (I don't watch while driving kids do) I can explain how I bypassed the "safety procedure". Best Buy had the bypass switch for ~20$. It's an extra 10-15 minutes and the cost of switch and a couple wires. PM if you like

I got ya. My only problem is the harness that came with the new head unit plugs into the radio then the other end has a plug and a couple free wires. Do I cut the plug end so I can wire those wires to the adapter harness I have? Maybe I need to post a picture?

Take a pic of these free wires. Does the wires have writing on them?

this is the setup I have right now. (From left to right) Plugs into head unit has some free wires and an end with a plug. The next harness is the "adapter"

this is the labeled wires on the harness that came with the new head unit.

How do I go about this

Well pulled out my stock head unit tonight to check the adapter harness. Wrong one. But the package said for 2/4 door explorers 2000-2003 (somewhere around those years).

Well I am ordering the right harness. Tried to test fit and it wasnt the right one. But the harness that came with the head unit do I cut the plug off the end of the "power cable" so i can wire it together with the harness adapter?

There is going to be a couple wires not used off the new deck. Ex. Power ant, sub 2 from what I can see from the new deck wires on left side. The right hand side of it looks like the majority of speaker wire with the power, constant and ground. The the harness that connect radio to truck should just plug in. There shouldn't be extra tails... You can keep out that pink and blue(for subwoofer amp).

You can cut the plug end off to wire.... If the harness fits in the truck. I would suggest going to best buy and just compare harnesses. I'll pull out my deck and see if I can't take a pic for you.

ya im just going to cut it and wire it to the harness adapter then should plug right into the harness in the vehicle!. then should be good to go I believe
