First time post from a long time lurker. I'm now on my second Mountaineer and have gotten lots of really good info here over the years....so thanks!

I'm now having an issue that I couldn't find any answers for. Yesterday I started up the Mountaineer, (2003, 6 cyl, AWD, 122K) and a warning light came on that I had no clue what it was. I checked the owner's manual and it's the AdvanceTrac light and also the AWD lock warning is periodically flashing on and off. I found no other info on why these lights would be flashing, what they mean and what to check for issues.

Any ideas or help here?? I refuse to take it to a dealership and prefer to not have to take it to a mechanic if it's something that I might be able to handle myself.

Thanks!

Anybody else have experience with this problem or know what it could be??

You would need to check for codes in the modules to help diagnose better.

Did you find out the answer for the AWD lock and ADV TRACK warning lights? I've got the same situation. It started a week ago, but drove fine. Today the vehicle started to vibrate and stall, felt like it was binding, and was making some squealing noises. Happened before I got out of my subdivision and barely made it back to the driveway! Suggestions?

No, I have not found any answers yet. The warning lights are still on, but it seems to be driving fine. Your issues have me a little worried though! It's my wife's vehicle, and I'd hate for her to get stranded somewhere. Please let me know if you take it to a mechanic or find anything else out!
