I have a 2003 ford ranger with about 200,000 miles. I replaced the water pump about 20,000 miles ago. several weeks ago i noticed my gauge getting reading hot i replaced the themostat fan clutch 2 days later i had to replace the radiator as it cracked..(was not when i replaced the themostat.) I noticed it still getting hot when mainly sitting in traffic so i replaced the fan clutch.. Now it only seems to read hot after i stop after i have been on the highway.. but if i get the engine up to 2500 rpms the gauge goes right back to half way.. any help out there?

Other issues could be a warped or cracked head, blown head gasket, improper ignition timing. My Geo prism did exactly what your truck is doing. Would get hot only when stopping and cool when driving. Come to find out the timing was set wrong from the repair shop after replacing a head gasket.
