My '03 hit 170,000 miles a couple days ago. It has been running fine all day. I filled up earlier this morning, ran some errands, came home, then tried to leave again. It didn't really want to start, but I blamed the heat since it 100 outside. Then, when I got out the subdivision, it would not go over 20 mph. I hit my emergency blinkers and turned around, and it died. It started easy, and would go about 45, then would drop to 20. Everytime I would slow down to turn, it would almost die, which it did a couple times. Any easy answer?

check fuel pressure

If you have no DTCs and it has not been ages since the last tuneup I suggest cheking your fuel pressure. How long since the fuel filter was changed? You might also clean the MAF sensor if it's been a while since the last cleaning.

I really don't remember the last time the fuel filter was changed, I passed that responsbility to my husband ;)

Is there any chance it could have anything to do w/ the Serpentine Belt? We've been told that it needs to be replaced :(

Welcome to the site, it sounds like your catalytic convertors may be clogged. As the vehicle warms up the convertor heats up becoming more clogged slowing the Jeep down.

Look under the Jeep when this happens to see if they're red. I've seen these glow on occasion from becoming so hot. Not saying this is it,but could be the culprit.

Hope this helps,
Tony
