my battery went not quite dead and I recharge the battery. Now my pats system will not let me start the vehicle. I only have one key.

I'd reset the computer and try again
Worth a shot

Have you tried jumping the battery? When my battery crapped out without a warning I jumped started to get home. Once I got home and shut engine off to go in house to change out of good clothes and when I came back out it wouldn't start even with jumping. I replaced with new battery and it started right up. PATS memory does not disappear. I suspect you have a bad battery.

Buy a blank key on EBay cheap (around $10), then have Lowes or a lock smith cut it from the key you do have.

Then use ForScan to program them.

But first install a new Motorcraft battery from OReilly or Ford.

I'm gun shy on Motorcraft batteries at the moment. On my 2016 Sport OEM battery died at 32,000 and was replaced with Motorcraft Max under 36K/36 months B2B warranty. 13 months later it too died and I got Interstate battery from Costco with 850CCA for $99.00. You only get the balance of the factory warranty on the replacement battery. I have had replacment Motorcraft Max battery on my other Ford vehicles and so far no issues. I figured that my replacement should have gone fo 4-5 years. On my 03 Explorer factory battery lasted 5 years.
