2004 Ford Explorer v8
Hello I have a 2004 Ford Explorer v8 Eddie Bauer and I am currently having issues and need some help please. A few weeks ago I was driving and my check engine light came on didn't feel anything wrong drove home and parked.the next day I start up the vehicle and check engine light comes on I get to a red light and the vehicle starts to idle rough but still drives fine on the way home I noticed the vehicle started running rough I get to a red light vehicle starts shaking a little light turns green I step on the gas and it feels like no compression now I see the rpm's go up and the engine revving but the vehicle barley moving and the check engine light starts flashing on and off. I get home and have a friend check it out he says try cleaning the throttle body which we do and we change the air filter and add some fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank. Well I take off to work this morning and now the car feels really weak when I accelerate I step on the gas and see the rpm's jump up to around 3000 and 4000 it isn't until I let off the gas that it returns to normal and now when I accelerate not only do I get a studder and loss of power but the check engine light starts flashing on and off and now I get a squeeling sound as I accelerate its like the car wants to go but it's not until I let off the gas and step on it slowly then the car will start moving until I get to a red light and it starts idling rough with the cel flashing on and off then it stops idling rough and the light stays on I am not a great mechanic I know a few things here and there but nothing major I have been told from people that it could be the gas pump, harmonic balancer , alternator and more I don't have a clue so any help from any of you who may know or had a similar problem would be much appreciated thank you.

Get the codes read and post back up.

Got codes read came back misfire on bank 2 and 5 , also something about a O2 sensor mechanic is saying could be a bad cat .

a flashing CEL indicates a misfire going on, simply put it means it is damaging the catalytic converter. when was the last time you replace the plugs and COPs? start from there (2 and 5 if you want it cheaper).
