Just purchased a 2004 explorer 4.0 and it has a rough idle

The problem doesnt seem to be there under acceleration, only at a stoplight. There are no CEL's, and the engine seems to run fine, just shakes at idle. Ive checked the engine mounts, and looked around, and everything seems to be fine.

My thoughts on the situation could be : bad spark plugs, wires, or ignition coil. Ive heard that its possible the clutch plate is cracked, harmonic balancer is off, many other things. The selling dealer has ordered me a new ignition coil pack at no cost to me, but i dont think that its anything to do with the ignition system because a CEL would appear for missfire or so.

Any Help on the situation would be greatly appreciated.

Also, could someone link me to the seafoam link? Would you think this would help?

Could be a number of things. The IAC is one. I had this problem, and it ended up being bad gas/fuel filter.

yah i would clean out you IAC valve with carb cleaner and check the spark plugs for wear, it wouldnt hurt to replace the wires and plugs since its prob needs it, the ford 100K tune up is a joke, by that time the spark plug points are so worn down its crazy

Sorry to bring up and old post but where is the IAC on the 04's? IS there one on a TBW motor?

Vacuum leak?

It's the gasoline...

Techron or an equivalent has to be addedd... this will eliminate rough idle. If they can fill up with Chevron (I do not work for this company), it will save them a lot of time and trouble. By the way, Good morning! :)
