Hey all, been lurking here for a while to no avail, let me run down my issue.

2005 4.0L FF 4x4 120,000 miles
It all started out around Christmas with a CEL throwing a P0191 fuel rail pressure sensor code. .Had the sensor replaced, as well as plugs and wires. about a week later, it left my daughter stranded, so I had it taken back to shop that replaced the sensor, they couldn't find anything wrong. A week after that, I had to replace the alternator. Ever since replacing the FRP sensor, it has been stalling randomly, and won't restart until the next day. The next day, I will scan for codes and find nothing.

I have for the past week, been trying to further troubleshoot this deeper, this is what I know:
I just changed the fuel filter.
I get home from work, it starts right up and will idle just fine, after 16 minutes, it starts idiling rough and stalls. Once it stalls, I turn the key off, restart it, the motor takes right off, the RPM's jump, but instead of holding at 700 rpm, it dies. it will do this as many time as I try. I scan for codes, nothing. I was able to get it to start after forcing the fuel pump on in Forscan, it did run, but threw p0172 and p0174, 02 stuck rich.

today I read about the fuel pump over heating, it only had a 1/4 tank, so after stalling, I put 6 gallons in, it started and ran only for 2 minutes, and actually threw a P0193 FRP high, and shows a fuel rail pressure fault. it is now reading 69 psi. I never saw this until today after adding 6 gals of gas taking it to a 1/2 tank. before today, my frp was constant 38-40 psi.

Any Ideas aside from the fuel pump?

where do I put a fuel pressure guage on it with no schrader valve? I got the kit from auto zone, hooked it up at the fuel rail connector, but it sprayed.

Any help is appreciated

@grindliner

I had a new FRP go bad shortly after putting it in, after code P0191. Ran good, no codes, then threw P0191 again. Replaced 2nd. time, all good since. Your struck rich may come from excessive fuel pressure. Also possible the Fuel Pump Module is causing the trouble; it converts info from FRP to signal running the fuel pump. imp
