05 Explorer - Tailgate window opens automatically.

Key fob issues: When I hit the unlock (and lock) buttons, the tailgate window opens. My drivers door lock doesn't always unlock on the first tap of the key fob button, so I wind up having to depress the key fob button several times till it unlocks. Once I get in the vehicle and start it up, I'll see the "tailgate open" message on the message screen and when I check the tailgate, I find it popped open. Why does this happen and how do I stop it.

New key fob was purchased and programmed and I still have the same issue.

Just a wild guess at this point, but have you tested the physical switch for the lift glass? Could it be faulty, in an electrically closed state?
