I have a 2006 Explorer V8 4WD the cooling fan runs on high and loud like a jet airplane after the dealer changed the radiator 3 months ago. The fan runs high when the temperature is completely cold from a dead start until I drive out of 1st gear then whenever I stop a a red light it sounds loud like a ln 18 wheeler again. Dealer said it was because I had a coolant leak when I took it back a week later. Fixed that and it still does it, any ideas?

EDIT**** I lived with it for another year before my water pump started leaking after i changed it, the problem went away along with it. Hope this helps someone.

The dealer probably damages the controller or disturbed the temp sensor when installing the radiator.

I would try to get the front end higher and run the car a bit with the rad cap off. Try massaging out any possible air bubbles trapped in the upper and lower radiator hoses. If that doesn't resolve the issue I would try replacing the thermostat. It's pretty dirt cheap, like $15-$20 thermostat and about a gallon or two of coolant, and it's relatively easy to get to and do it yourself. If that doesn't solve it then I'd buy a new fan clutch for like $80 some if I'm not mistaken, rent the fan clutch removal tool from Autozone and replace that. If that doesn't fix it then I'd take it to someone with more expertise :)
