Hey Guy's, I'm down to thinking it's the transfer case 4 link chain. IN the drivers side foot well, a Thudding/banging with a rotation on the tires forward and reverse only from 20 mph on up and keeps pace with the tire rotations. no vibration at the steering wheel, no pulsing at the pedal, nothing but the thudding. new cv shafts, hub bearings in front and the front diff is clean and was full. U joint is solid, there is a little pattern on the pinion but again no material in the pumpkin. At 20MPH or above noise is thudding, if I apply the brakes the thudding stops until the drive starts to catch up and move forward. I really don't think an out of balance tire would do this. no debris in the front carrier, not the culprit. Am I looking in the right direction, Transfer case chain??? Car has 120K on it, noise started 3 months ago and has gotten more noticeable. Please take up the challenge, riding a motorcycle in Winter bad..

Just a thought: are all your tires the same brand, size, and age? If you have different tires, that will mess with the 4wd system and cause similar symptoms to what you are describing. It could mess with the auto 4×4.

All the tires are the same, and put on at the same time. I've always been able to figure out what the problems are , but this has me stonewalled. I've never taken a transfer case apart, but I'm willing. I appreciate any and all thoughts on this issue.
