1/4 time with 302 sport

Iam wondering what type of performance I would get if i put a 302 in my sport?
I know the 4 door X's aren't that quick but the 2 door sport weighs considerably less.

According to Edmunds, the weight difference between a '98 4WD Sport and a '98 4WD XLT is only about 200lbs. I can't see that weight difference making a great gain in performance.

From a 2WD XLT to a 2WD Sport would still be about 200lbs. Now, if you want to compare a 4WD XLT to a 2WD Sport, then you are talking about 450lbs. Either way, a stock 5.0 in an X will never be a powerhouse (I have a 2WD 5.0). It is still about 210hp in a +/- 2 ton SUV. Now, if you decide to "play" with the 5.0 a little, then it is a whole new ball game!!!

Actually the torque is a bit more than the 6's in the Sport, so it'll have some more pick up off the line. Overall it won't be that much, but it will be noticable. Plus, the exhaust will sound better.

Man I can't wait to drop in that V8. I've already started making a list of hte parts I'm going to use to build a beast of a 347. I may be going overboard with some of the parts, but at least I'll never have to worry about durability. It'll probably end up costing more than a crate motor, but I also want to do it for the learning experience.
