Sorry if this is in the wrong area. I did do a search but could not find an answer to what I am looking for. After changing my mind several times about what lift I want to go with I decided I only need about 1.5 to 2.0 inch of lift. I want to have the truck level, which brings me to my questions.

I plan on using Warrior shackles in the rear and I wanted to use 1.5 leveling coils by Rough Country up front. By doing so will this leave the front lower than the rear by 1.5? If so How can I go about leveling the truck? Can I use the F-150 seats with the coils?

Also with lifting the truck will I need new shocks? If so what do you guys recommend? I will be using this truck as a daily driver and hunting truck.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know what 1.5" leveling coils are for an explorer. The explorer already sits level (stock).. Some of the pickups sit with the rear end up and a leveling coil would bring up the front on them.

The easiest way to get 1.5" of lift up from is to use the f-150 spacers which are also known as f-150 coil spring seats.

The warrior shackles will get you about 1.5" of lift and the f-150 seats will get you about the same (some say 1.5, some say 1 5/8.. both "seem" correct)

As for shocks, you don't need longer ones with that small of a lift.

You will need an alignment when done though.

I did this with leveling springs and add a leaf and now need shackles cause the back still sits to low, by about an inch. I purchased the Skyjacker 132x springs for about $140 shipped from 4 wheel parts, Rough Counrty also makes a set of 1.5 inch leveling springs as they call them. Definitely get the shackles though you will need them for sure. I suggest the springs rather than spacers you will get more flex from the springs.

Can I use the F-150 seats with the coils?

nope, about 2" is all the front suspension can go before you need your beams modified or drop brackets on the frame. Otherwise you can't align it back to spec and your tires will be \ /

If it were me, I'd go F150 seats, shackles and 31" tires. I'm in your area and could give you a hand with install. I've also got a set of 33x9.5 wheels/tires that are taller but narrower that may work on that setup that I may be selling if I can make up my mind with what I want to do with my truck.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Dannyboy any reason to go with the seats over the coils? I’m new to all this and I’m learning as I go. If your willing to help install I’m willing to let you help!:D I live right down the road(Rural/Broadway). What’s the story on the tires?

well unless your stock coils are pretty worked over and sagging (I don't really know how to tell unless they are really rusted out and your truck is sitting much lower than similar explorers) the F150 seats do nothing but raise the ride height by 1.5". I have also installed a skyjacker 2" "kit" that consisted of an add-a-leaf and new coils. The big advantage I could see in using coils instead of seats would be the chance to maybe gain a little wheel travel from the additional 2" of coil spring and hope that the aftermarket spring is a little more flexy than stock.

The F150 seats or coils are a breeze to install and will give you that advantage to clear a larger tire.

No big story on the tires, I just have 6 33s and 8 35s at my place. I just put the 33s back on my truck to run it in the desert this weekend to help me decide if I want to regear my truck. It has been a pig on the 35s. Look on Craigslist as well, there is tires all over that thing.

You would be amazed at what your truck will do with a little added ground clearance, agressive tires and a rear locker. Make sure you budget for some warn hubs too if you are going out alone, auto hubs just won't cut it.
