100k mile Service Questions 2007 V6 4.0

Ok so been doing my reading and getting everything ready to do the 100K service as i don't know what Original owner had done so far. just got the truck little over a month. i have a 2007 xlt 4.0 2wd.

Got my plugs and wires coming in and pace valve from rock auto, and thanks to swshawaii for clearing up the spark plug issue that the 4.0 engine did no have the dreaded spark plugs of the 4.6.

searched forum about the transmission fluid and it seems that pan should be dropped and filter changed with new fluid vs having it flushed? Im assuming the pan drop and filter change is best route? so called 2 dealerships here and asked about the tranny service both said they just flush it, only drop pan if a complete overhaul is needed. So should i search around more to find a place that will do this properly or is a flush all i need. Price they quoted me was 199.99.

Also do i need to get anything as far as software for the truck upgraded from the dealership?

Things i have replaced so far.
Front wheel hubs.
Thermostat housing.
new tires

I would search around for a shop that will do a pan drop. And make sure they are using the correct ATF. Check the back of your owners manual for the correct type. If you're feeling handy you could try to do it yourself, its not that difficult.

If you are getting it flushed, and it has never been done, I would start putting money away for a replacement transmission. Odds are you will need one in the next year or so. Talk to a dealership. they will ding you $150 for a filter change and top up.

Well found a dealership that does pan drop and filter. Actually waiting for the truck as I write this. I think I saw your write up that you did yourself. Unfortunately don't have access to a lift. And don't mind paying the experts to do this job right if it only takes them an hour or two. Plus about this is I can expense car maintenance. So hopefully everything goes smooth and they don't try to throw some surpirse fees on me.
