2020 Ford Explorer XLT
I happened to catch Motorweek just in time this am to see the new '11 XLT. I really liked it except for the 3.5L engine, and the fact that it's lookin' like a crossover vehicle. Other than that it looked pretty sexy! Really high tech.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for 'heads up'. I was able to catch the show later this afternoon. Now if mine would only arrive....;)

I'm dumping an 08 for mine. I think it's an amazing upgrade in quite a few ways.

What's not to like about the 3.5? The two missing cyl? My 08 is a V6, so for me it's an upgrade in power.

What don't you like about the engine? 290 HP moves it better than any 6 or 8 Explorers ever had.

BTW, it is a crossover. It's developed on a car platform and then they beefed it up so that it can perform some SUV functions.

I haven't taken mine offroad, but if you are looking for a rock climber, this isn't it. What it does do is drive great, with nice amount of space. I have towed my boat with it and it was ok. If you are not heavy footed, you will get great gas mileage. It's also good in the snow and rain.

Btw, the interior is worlds ahead of the previous model. I've actually never considered an Explorer as it was always cheap looking to me. The new ones have a gorgeous interior and if you like electronic gizmos, it has them a plenty. Keep in mind that they are still working out the MySync bugs. One of the biggest problems is making it compatible with so many different phone operating systems.

All in all, I'm happy with it.

There's no cylinders missing. It's still a 6 cyl., just 3.5L instead of 4.0L. All I was saying is that my initial reaction was a little disappointment (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) in the reduced engine size. I saw the 290 horsepower # and, yes, it is impressive.
